Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use Companio? +

Companio is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children, and minors are not permitted to use it. The app is distributed with an 18+ store age rating, and every user provides a date of birth at sign-up — anyone under 18 is refused an account.

How does Companio check that users are 18+? +

Every user provides their date of birth at registration, and accounts indicating an age under 18 are refused. We also rely on app-store age ratings. If we receive credible information that a user is under 18, we suspend the account and delete its data. We continue to evaluate additional age-assurance measures.

What should I do if I think a minor is using Companio? +

Please report the account inside the app (open their profile or chat → menu → Report → child-safety reason), or email support@lyrafriend.com with any relevant details. We investigate promptly and remove the account if confirmed.

How do I report someone for a child-safety concern? +

From inside the app, open the chat with the person or their profile, tap the menu, choose Report, and select the child-safety reason — this also blocks them automatically. You can also email our child-safety point of contact at support@lyrafriend.com. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

Does Companio report CSAM to authorities? +

Yes, absolutely. Any CSAM detected or reported to us is removed and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via their CyberTipline as required by US law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A). We also cooperate with local and international law enforcement as required.
