These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and Companio ("Companio", "we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of the Companio mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.
Companio is a strictly adults-only service. You must be at least 18 years of age to use it. Minors are not permitted to use Companio under any circumstances. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older. See our Child Safety & CSAE Standards for how we keep the platform adults-only.
If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
To access most features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep it updated.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must immediately notify us at support@lyrafriend.com if you suspect any unauthorized use.
Each person may maintain only one Companio account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent suspensions, abuse prevention measures, or purchase restrictions is prohibited.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Companio grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the Companio app on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

Companio reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate action against violations, including suspension or termination of accounts.
Companio helps adults meet new friends who share their interests. You interact with other real people, and you are responsible for your own conduct and safety. We do not verify the identity, background, or statements of other users. Use good judgement, keep personal and financial details private, and meet anyone in person only when and where you feel safe.
Companio is a social app for meeting people, not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other expert advice. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.
You can report or block any user directly from your chat with them or from their profile. We review every report and act on conduct that violates these Terms, including permanently removing accounts. Report suspected harm to a minor immediately — see our Child Safety & CSAE Standards.
We implement safety measures to prevent harmful outputs. However, no system is perfect. If you encounter concerning AI responses, please report them via Settings → Report an Issue.
Companio is free to join and use. Creating an account, matching on interests, and text messaging are provided at no cost. Companio does not offer paid subscriptions — there is nothing recurring to sign up for or cancel.
Companio Coins are a virtual currency you can buy within the app through one-time purchases. Coins are used to pay for voice and video calls, which are charged per minute at the rate set by the person you call. Coins have no monetary value outside the app, are non-transferable, and are non-refundable except as required by law. Unused Coins expire upon account termination.
All coin purchases are processed by Apple (App Store), Google (Play Store), or our in-app payment providers. By making a purchase you also agree to the relevant provider's terms and billing policies. Companio does not store your card details.
Refund requests for coin purchases are handled by the relevant payment provider in accordance with their policies. Companio may, at its sole discretion, issue courtesy coins for verified service outages.
You retain ownership of the content you create and share within Companio, including messages and voice recordings ("User Content").
By submitting User Content, you grant Companio a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, store, process, and display your User Content solely as necessary to provide, improve, and maintain the Service.
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant the above licence and that your content does not violate any law or third-party rights.
All aspects of the Service not covered by your User Content — including the app, design, text, graphics, logos, and AI models — are the exclusive property of Companio or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any Companio intellectual property to you.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
COMPANIO DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, COMPANIO AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL COMPANIO’S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO COMPANIO IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such cases, the above limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Companio and its affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your User Content; or (c) your violation of any third-party rights.
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. You may do so by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate your access without notice if we determine you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct harmful to Companio, its users, or third parties.
Upon termination, your licence to use the Service ends immediately. Sections 8 (User Content), 9 (Intellectual Property), 10 (Disclaimers), 11 (Limitation of Liability), 12 (Indemnification), and 15 (Governing Law) survive termination.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will provide notice via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Companio is incorporated, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located in that jurisdiction for the resolution of any disputes.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force.
